An Ideal Environment in the University Campus
Students, the prospects of a country:
Students are the dreams of a nation, and educational institutions are gardens for our brilliant students where the dreams of a country are nourished and cherished. They bud, bloom, and flower under the nurture and care of our teachers, who are called nation builders and torchbearers of a nation. But our hearts become burdened and heavy with shock when we see that students are doing dirty politics on the premises of these sacred institutions, and thus polluting the environment of education. In the name of exercising politics, they indulge in tender, plunder, blunder, hooliganism, rowdiness, extortion, hijacking, admission business, occupying dormitories, taking free meals, seat politics, controlling campus, etc. Regarding the capture of the hall, they sometimes brawl among their own factions and sometimes with the factions of other political parties. Not an iota of activity in favor of general students is visible. Thus, wearing the identity of a student, they exercise terrorism on the campus.
Corruption in University Admission is another dark side of Students Politics:
Political admission is another open secret of the leaders of the student politics. They pocket a huge amount of money from the admission seekers. They obtain the money mainly from the students on the waiting lists and ones who fail to qualify in the freshman admission tests. If any college officials refuse to comply with them, they are threatened with transfers or even life threats. As a consequence, the promising prospect of our country fails to get them admitted into their desired institutions. They are replaced by the students who deserve to be on the waiting list. Later on, these unqualified students become the wings of political leaders and create havoc on the campus in the name of politics. The corruption of student leaders breeds corruption. Subsequently, these cadres of the university become the national leaders. So, ultimately, we see that in the name of exercising politics, the exercise of corruption goes on in the university campus, and finally it is manipulated in parliament. Nobody can even point a finger at their illegal activities, especially when their party remains in power. Our honorable teachers are often harassed by these so-called leaders of the student politics, who are totally unscrupulous and devoid of morality and decency. The situation is getting worse day by day. And this virus is slowly destroying the strength of our nation.

Campus Violence, a regular phenomenon:
Campus violence is a common phenomenon in our country, and the main reason which lies in causing this violence is student politics. Sometimes, students plunge into a deadly brawl with different factions of their own political party, and sometimes with the factions of other political parties. However, at times, the situation becomes so violent and uncontrollable that the students have to pay the price by giving their valuable lives. As a result, the university is declared closed for an indefinite period. The hopes and dreams of parents as well as our nation are thus nipped in the bud. The students sent to universities to acquire degrees return home as dead bodies. The suffering of general students also knows no bounds. They face session jams month after month and year after year. So, they lag far behind in the world of competition. All these are the consequences of student politics. It has become a curse for student life. Because of this dirty politics, the reputation of Dhaka University, which was once one of the best universities in the world, is deteriorating day by day.
Reformation of student politics:
Reformation of student politics is the demand of the time. Students should not involve themselves with politics directly. If a student is interested in politics, initially, he can practise it theoretically, not practically, during the valuable period of life. The sagacity, prudence, and wisdom of leadership cannot be achieved without the pursuit of knowledge. If a leader lacks the quality of leadership, he cannot lead the country towards prosperity, stability, peace, and happiness. If the education of the students is incomplete, how will they lead the nation? So, to enrich themselves, they have to read different books on politics and on the biography of the great politicians of the world. This is how they can acquire knowledge about politics and dispel the misconception about it from the minds of the people.
Encouraging students for creative and social activity :
Moreover, students in general can take part in the social awareness and welfare activities. We know a large portion of our population is illiterate. So they can impart consciousness among the illiterate people regarding different important matters of life. Even the authorities of our respective schools, colleges, and universities arrange excursions for the recreation of the students. In addition to that if they can arrange a short tour to spread the social awareness and welfare activities among the illiterate and the poor people of our country by making some small groups from different departments of our schools, colleges and universities, then the students of our country will be able to gather vast knowledge about practical life and will be morally uplifted, co-operative and constructive in their activities. For this, the government should take initiatives. Only then will we get a sparkling prospect to lead the country to peace, progress, and prosperity.
Good governance and leadership hinge on the future of our students:
Bangladesh is an emerging developing country of the world and also a very important country in the Asian region. This country has immense possibilities, and these immense possibilities can be materialized with the help of good governance and leadership. This leadership can be produced only by a proper education system. So our first and foremost task would be to keep our universities and colleges free from politics and thus to create a suitable environment for our students.
The modern education system can produce our future leaders:
All the development work of our country hinges on the education sector. Only an up-to-date and modern education system can provide us with brilliant students who are the future of our country. Today’s students are tomorrow’s nation builders, prime ministers, presidents, scientists, doctors, engineers, leaders, businessmen, etc. So they will be the posterity and hope of our country. They will be the ideal leaders of the country who will raise our heads upright as a nation. But the talents and potentialities of our students are nipped in the bud when they become puppets in the hands of the politicians who throttle their possibilities at the blooming stage. So, they should be rescued from the clutches of dirty politics, and the qualities of leadership should be taught in the classroom so that they can be the future leader of the nation. It cannot be denied that the social, political, and economic progress of our country depends on the development of the latent talents and potentialities of our students. So, considering our national interest, students should be taught how to develop leadership qualities.
